SILICA WARNING: Cosmos Quartz slabs are not hazardous as shipped and used by the end user. However, as with any natural stone products such as marble or granite, fabrication and processing of Quartz slabs such as Cosmos Quartz (i.e. cutting sawing, grinding, drilling or sanding) generate dust containing crystalline silica.
Unprotected, uncontrolled and/or continuous exposure to such dust is dangerous to your health and can lead to minor issues like abrasion of the cornea, and irritation of the skin and eyes or more severe illnesses such as silicosis, lung cancer or tuberculosis. For this reason, all facilities fabricating, and processing quartz slabs must implement a silica control program in accordance with all the local and federal laws applicable to the region.
Cosmos strongly recommends that fabricators and installers strictly adhere to the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (http:/ /www.osha.gov).
FIRST AID: If irritation of the skin or eyes occurs, flush the area immediately with plenty of water. If breathing difficulties are experienced, move outdoors into fresh air. In any event of physical discomfort, consult a physician.
